Meierer Kestener Feinherb Riesling

Produced with grapes from vines planted in 1960 and 1971. The soil is light, with a high proportion of stones, which forces the vines to send their roots deep to find water. This stress supports the production of high quality fruit, and climactic conditions allow the development of botrytis - noble rot. 

Botrytis infected grapes are selected for this wine, and crushed as whole bunches. Fermentation is in stainless steel tanks, using natural yeasts.

The Meierer winery is located at the foot of the Paulinsberg mountain, with the cellars driven into the side of the mountain. They own vineyards on the slopes of Paulinsberg and the smaller Paulinshofberg, which joins the larger and renowned Brauneberger Juffer.

Winemaker Matthias Meierer established his winery in 2006, but only worked in it part time, as he enhanced his experience by working with other renowned winemakers. In 2008 he won Young Winemaker of the Year, and since then has concentrated on his own business. His passion is riesling, and he works in every stage of the process, from vineyard to winery. He believes that only through this attention to detail can he produce wines that truly reflect the character of the grape and terroir that produced it.
