About us

King Street Cellar is a unique independent wine merchants in the centre of Cambridge. Our mission is to make fine wine accessible to everyone, townie and gownie alike. Grounded in community, King Street Cellar seeks to bring wine enthusiasts together in an inclusive space where wines can be shared, enjoyed and explored. Whether popping in for an old favourite, to discover something new, complex and unusual or if it’s your first time in a wine merchant’s, we delight in helping customers find exactly the right match for them.

The shop is founded and run by two Cambridge boys, Ben Thurbon and Lexington Thomas, whose shared love of wine has shaped King Street Cellar from the start. Ben's enthusiasm for wine began at much too young an age (don't tell his mum!), his palate refining over time from Echo Falls drunk through a straw on Jesus Green, while Lexington's own love of wine was found further afield, discovered while travelling and living across Europe and South America — together bringing a blend of local roots and global palate to the shop. Both take great pride in getting to know each and every one of their customers personally and believe that good quality wine should be available to everyone, regardless of budget or background, with the hand-picked and carefully selected stock reflecting the diversity of customers they serve.

King Street Cellar is committed to being environmentally responsible and partners proudly with sustainably minded wine suppliers. In store and online you will find a diverse, quality-focussed selection of fine wines, craft beer and specialist spirits from suppliers who share our eco-friendly philosophy.
